Anthony Edwards takes charge in Salt Lake City

If Naz Reid takes an offensive rebound from the start to open the scoring, the start of the match is to the Jazz's advantage. Lauri Markkanen hits a 3-pointer and Collin Sexton sends John Collins to the alley-oop in transition, before Sexton also finds the target from afar. The Wolves concede a 20-8 from the start but come back well at the end of the period, thanks to Reid and Edwards. And their defense, like this big counter from McDaniels on Sexton who was going for a dunk! However, more will be needed later, after a first quarter that was too permissive (37-25).

Minnesota passes the second in the second quarter, inflicting a 14-2 to come back up. Naz Reid is the big man of this first half, with 17 points, to keep his wolves in the game.

Opposite, the Jazz slow down a little in the second, but with 4 players at 10 points or more, manage to keep a slight lead at half-time, notably through their presence in the paint, and on offensive rebounds. (59-53). Bad news though: Naz Reid has a head injury (and won't return in the second half)…

Anthony Edwards takes the match into his own hands

Lauri Markkanen gets things back on track in the 3rd quarter with a huge dunk in traffic, and we have the right to a real match. The Wolves are definitely back on track but the Jazz are fighting back again, with Nickeil Alexander-Walker taking a first counter from Hendricks, then a second from Kessler! Minny feels the tide turning as Edwards heats up, and squarely cuts John Collins with an atomic dunk! Author of 12 points in the 3rd, Ant puts the two teams back to back before the last quarter (83-83).

The two All-Stars engage in a nice duel from a distance in the last quarter, with on one side Edwards continuing to spit flames in all corners, and on the other Markkanen trying to cool him near the circle with his fundamentals . But it is the young guard from Minnesota who takes the upper hand, with 13 points in the period and therefore 25 of his 32 points scored in the second half! McDaniels made the crowd scream with a 3-pointer at the final buzzer, but the fate of the match was already sealed (114-104).

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

A victory despite injuries. Already deprived of KAT and Rudy Gobert before the match, the Wolves had to do without Naz Reid in the second half because of a blow to the head. Chris Finch therefore played “small ball” thereafter, with McDaniels and Anderson as a backup interior duo. But if everything went well for Minny, it was above all thanks to Anthony Edwards who took care of everything in the second half, with 25 points but also 6 rebounds and 6 assists! Ant will finish with 32 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds, for a third consecutive meeting above thirty.

The Jazz shoot themselves in the foot. With 17 lost balls which produced 27 points for the Wolves, the Jazz players can only blame themselves after this setback at home. “This match ultimately came down to our inability to take care of the ball”, will thus regret Will Hardy afterwards. Despite the return to business of Lauri Markkanen (22 points, 12 rebounds) after six missed games, Utah conceded another setback and still cannot get back on track, with 13 defeats in its last 16 games!

What a monstrous dunk from Anthony Edwards! As a symbol of his domination in the second half, Anthony Edwards managed to place a monumental dunk in the third quarter, jumping on John Collins to slot the leather narrowly into the circle! The action quickly went around the world, especially as both players came out scarred, Collins notably leaving with a cut to the head. “I thought I was going to miss it because I was quite far from the circle, but I managed to finish the action anyway. It gives me chills to talk about it, because it's really the type of dunk I dream of doing! »enjoyed Ant after the victory.
