The bill gets tougher for Anthony Edwardswho has just been fined a new fine by the NBA for “foul language” during his post-match interview following the Wolves' victory over the Rockets on Friday night. The evening had enough to be beautiful since the Minnesota guard was the hero of the match, scoring the decisive 3-point shot to give his team the victory.
But his “Fuck it” to signify that he did not want to go to overtime will cost him dearly, the league having inflicted a penalty of $100,000. The amount was motivated by the succession of language deviations from the player, who was sanctioned each time but who continues to act as if nothing had happened, which must not really please the NBA. Over the last two months, he has already received three large fines: $25,000 for an outburst against the referees, $35,000 for giving a middle finger to a Sacramento fan and finally $75,000 last week for being verbally attacked again by the referees.
Slowly but surely, Anthony Edwards is reaching the half million dollars in fines paid to the NBA since the start of his career. This is the biggest he has received since his arrival in the league, ahead of that of last week, and his bloodshed during the first round of the 2023 playoffs, when he threw a chair following the elimination of the Wolves against Denver, an incident which earned him a fine of 50,000 dollars.
