Anthony Edwards and Naz Reid flex their muscles against the Mavs

After his victory at OKC, then the 150 points passed to the Bulls, the Wolves confirm their good form of the moment by winning against the Mavs (116-106). This third victory in a row, against a team with the same record before the match, was marked by the strong performances of the pair Anthony Edwards – Naz Reid.

With Spencer Dinwiddie’s outside address and a few rare 3-point step-backs from Luka Doncic, the Mavs raced in the lead in the first quarter (21-30). But the Texas attack completely seized up in the second, like a Spencer Dinwiddie who missed his four attempts.

In the five minutes before the locker room, the Texans only scored one basket in the game. The Wolves, for their part, asked themselves fewer questions by rushing in transition to obtain finishes near the circle or throws -francs. After a 3-point basket in transition from Edwards, they offered a comfortable gap (57-44).

This discrepancy was not questioned in the following minutes. It was even aggravated by the throwing game linked to the expulsions of Luka Doncic and Jason Kidd. With a 20-point lead and twelve minutes to play (94-74), the locals could rest easy. Due to the sudden and unexpected rise in temperature of Davis Bertans (five 3-point baskets to finish!), the Mavs tried a comeback but the locals held on.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

The expulsions of the Doncic – Kidd duo. ” I’m not going to lie, I deserved the premiere. I’m less sure about the second. I was really shocked to be expelled. “It was on the face of Luka Doncic who couldn’t believe he was sent back to the locker room, two minutes from the end of the third quarter, after not getting a whistle in attack. The referee’s decision against his player pissed off Jason Kidd so much that he returned to the field to obtain an explanation and collect… two technical fouls in turn. ” I already lost money (while being expelled) so i don’t want to lose more “says the technician cautiously after the meeting.

Wolves start to take care of the ball. With 16 lost balls per game, the Minnesota club is one of the very worst students in the league in this area, the fourth most wasteful. Tonight, Wolves equaled their best performance of the season with just 10 ball losses. Already against the Bulls, they had limited this total to 12 units. For six games, Wolves have lost an average of 13 balls.

Torpedoing in order in the racket. And to think that Wolves were doing without Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert. This did not prevent them from registering 58 points in the opposing racket thanks to constant circle attacks, especially in transition. The Mavs have only scored… 18 points in the Wolves paint job.

TOPS/FLOPS

Anthony Edwards. Clumsiness in shooting certainly (7/21) but constant activity which, except for a decisive pass, could have been rewarded with a first career triple-double. We will note his +20 to the score when he was in play and overall a serious attitude of leader.

Naz Reid. Look no further for the big winner of the absences of local “Twin Towers” (Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert), it’s him! A few days after a remarkable exit to 28 points on the floor of the Thunder, the usual substitute continues with his second big double-double of the year. The interior impresses with its mobility and its ease with the ball in hand to finish in the circle.

Mavs shooters. Spencer Dinwiddie finished as the team’s leading scorer after doing what he could behind the 3-point line. Ditto for Davis Bertans who only signed his second good game of the season after catching fire in the last quarter.

Luka Doncic. Smallest mark of the season with 19 points, his worst percentage of the season equaled (5/17), an expulsion… This is what is called a failed evening.
