Two days ago, we learned that LeBron James and Anthony Davis demanded reinforcements in Los Angeles. We now know that the inside of the Lakers has a very precise idea of the profile to look for: a pivot. And it's no coincidence.
“I think we need one more interior. I always had the impression that I was at my best when I was at power forward, with a big guy next to me.”he confides to ESPN.
Anthony Davis has been saying this and repeating this for several years now. Almost every season since the 2020 title, he does not want to play pivot. “We know it worked when we won the title with JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard, and me at post 4”he recalls.
The question was also raised before the start of this season, with managers already looking for a pivot, and rightly so since Christian Wood has still not played and Jaxson Hayes has only played 20 games until now, for 16 minutes per game and only 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds on average.
The former leader of New Orleans therefore hopes that by February 6 and the “trade deadline”, the Lakers will be able to obtain a real pivot, for his personal case and also to improve his team. “We have the feeling of really not being far away. LeBron James and I are really, really motivated to win another trophy.”he concludes.
