Anthony Davis happy to find his position as power forward

After a season playing center, which he doesn’t like, Anthony Davis made it clear to Rob Pelinka and the Lakers that he did not want to find himself in that position for a second season in a row .

The leaders therefore recruited Jaxson Hayes and Christian Wood this summer to do the dirty work under the circle. One weight less for the 2020 champion.

“I’m still trying to find it.” Here it is: I am an interior who plays basketball”, he announces, when he has to define his position on the ground, at the Los Angeles Times. “I see him as a hell of a player, in the same style as Giannis Antetokounmpo when I was in Milwaukee,” continues Darvin Ham. “He’s of that caliber. We put him on the floor and he finds the solutions. »

An interior that does not want to play too much of a pivot, however. During the first training sessions with his new teammates, Anthony Davis did not hide his satisfaction at being associated with a position 5.

“I was pretty lost. I was at post 4 during certain possessions and I had forgotten certain systems,” he smiled. “Even though I’m still looking for myself, it’s nice. I talk with the coaches and with Jaxson and C-Wood about stuff I was doing with DeMarcus Cousins and Julius Randle in New Orleans. It’s a good thing and it feels good not to do 100 pick-and-rolls per game. I still have to explore all that, but the first few days are pleasant. »
