Angel Reese absolutely disgusted by Sky coach's dismissal

Deprived of Angel Reese for the end of the season, the Chicago Sky cracked in the home stretch, and were overtaken on the wire by the Atlanta Dream in the race for the playoffs. An elimination synonymous with dismissal for the former legend Teresa Weatherspoonthis was his first season at the helm of the team.

Joined a year ago, Teresa Weatherspoon has a record of 13 victories for 27 defeats, and she is paying a heavy price for this failed end to the season: 3 victories in 16 matches after the Olympic Games. A decision that does not go down well with Angel Reese, the new star of Chicago.

“Words fail me to say what this woman meant to me at such a crucial moment in my life,” writes the Sky rookie. “She was the only person who believed in me. The one who trusted me. Many don't even know what it's like to be a black woman in sports when no one believes in you. You had a difficult job. All the crazy circumstances we went through this year and when your back was against the wall, you still believed. I came to Chicago because of YOU. You are an unsung hero in my life. In a short time, we built a relationship that will last forever. »

Former Pelicans assistant, Teresa Weatherspoon played for seven years in the WNBA, from 1997 to 2004, then she became an NCAA coach at Louisiana Tech.

This dismissal in any case illustrates the instability that has reigned in the Illinois franchise since the 2021 title. The club will now have to go in search of a fourth coach in two years, while the former leaders of the team (Kahleah Copper, Marina Mabrey, Courtney Vandersloot…) have all jumped ship.
