Andre Drummond: “I was this guy who sulked, who was angry when he was not playing”

Because he arrived very young in the NBA, we would almost forget that Andre Drummond is not yet 30 years old! After opting to stay at the Bulls as Nikola Vucevic’s understudy for minimum wage, the pivot took to social media. It was not to discuss his problems with depression, but rather to provide advice to young people who land in the NBA. At least one important piece of advice: be a good comrade.

“Sulking, pulling the face, not encouraging your teammates when we are trailing by 8 points throughout the match, we come back and take a 3-point lead, and we don’t celebrate it… », lists Andre Drummond. “I’ll tell you guys something: I was that guy. I was a 100 million dollar guy. I was sulking and pissed off when I wasn’t playing. And I misbehaved…”

For the former pivot of the Pistons, it’s too late, but he wants young people not to follow this bad example. Being a good teammate is important in a group, it’s what has allowed some to always find a place in a squad. And conversely, being a bad teammate kicks you out of the NBA.

Examples abound in recent years…

“I went from a 100 million dollar contract to this damn minimum wage…” he repeats. “They don’t care how many rebounds you take. The number of shots you put. They care about who you are. Are you a good teammate? Are you a good guy in the locker room? Are you someone they can count on every night? »
