What cruel timing for Alex Len. The pivot had been fighting a duel with Javale McGee since the start of the season, to find out which of the two would finally settle in as the first replacement for Domantas Sabonis. The Ukrainian, not playing or playing very little, had fallen behind during the first matches of the regular season.
Then, against Portland and Cleveland, Mike Brown gave him playing time, unlike JaVale McGee. He had therefore just passed the three-time NBA champion, notably with a 10-point and 6-rebound game in the victory against the Blazers.
While he had the wind at his back, an injury has just slowed him down heavily as he injured his right ankle against the Cavaliers. Result of exams: between 6 and 8 weeks of absence, announces the franchise. Therefore, Alex Len will not return until 2024.
These are therefore several matches, a golden opportunity, which are offered to the former pivot of the Warriors and the Lakers to shine and perhaps make the hole with Alex Len and thus solidify his place behind the Lithuanian.
