Among Wolves fans, the madness of “Naz Reid” tattoos

It was in the excitement of the victory of Game 2 of the conference semi-final, when the Wolves had just taken a 2-0 lead against the Nuggets, that tattoo artist JC Stroebel posted on X/Twitter a amazing announcement. The artist intended to tattoo the name of Naz Reid to interested fans, for only 20 dollars!

“I sent the tweet thinking if I found someone to tattoo Naz Reid on, it might be cool.”, explains JC Stroebel to ESPN. “I made the mistake of underestimating the fan base, which is hard to do in Minnesota because they're always there. But I was shocked how many people were interested in this tattoo and wanted it…I think it's much more important than winning. »

Because hundreds of fans, from 18 to 82 years old, came to the tattoo parlor to take advantage of the offer.

“Wolves fans haven't had a lot of postseason wins to celebrate, and so this became an opportunity to celebrate that and do something for the fans, because we're very grateful to be a part of it and that we wanted to return the favor, by engaging with the community”continues JC Stroebel.

Naz Reid, local darling

Obviously, it's also a way for the tattoo artist to get a little publicity boost, as the Wolves invited him and his associate Jesse George during Game 4 of the series.

And besides, why Naz Reid rather than Anthony Edwards, the leader of this Minnesota team?

“I think Naz Reid is someone who really represents the fan community. I've said it countless times, but he truly represents an underdog story and I think Minnesota fans really identify with that underdog story.” explains Jesse Goerge.

Unlike Anthony Edwards, first draft choice and expected star in the NBA, Naz Reid is in fact an undrafted player who makes his place despite doubts, up to the trophy of best 6th man.

Moreover, the interior reacted to the initiative. “It’s crazy, I love it. Let them continue. » The offer from JC Stroebel and Jesse George is valid as long as the Wolves are in the running in these playoffs. Still at least until Sunday, and perhaps more if they win in Game 7 in Denver…
