Now 37, Amir Johnson has not played in the NBA since 2019, and we will find him next season behind the Clippers bench. According to The Athletiche joined the technical staff at the beginning of July, and he seems to have converted the test.

He won't be alongside Tyronn Lue for the tactical side, but he will probably take care of the interiors and the younger players in the squad. A role previously occupied by Jay Larranaga, and the latter has moved up a gear during the summer.

Assistant in G-League

Having played for the Pistons, the Raptors, the Celtics and finally the Sixers, Johnson played 870 games in the NBA for 7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1 block on average. Unable to get a contract in the NBA, he decided to join the G-League Ignite to supervise the youngsters and keep in shape, before becoming an assistant last season.

This summer, he was on the Clippers bench during the summer league. It should be remembered that Tyronn Lue will have a new right-hand man when the season starts, and that it is Jeff Van Gundy! He replaces Dan Craig, who left for the Bulls to assist Billy Donovan.
