Amen Thompson wants to make Cam Whitmore his new twin

After two years with his brother Ausar within the Overtime Elite, Amen Thompson discovers life without his twin in Houston. Drafted in 4th position, the playmaker was nevertheless not the only one to arrive in Texas this summer. Indeed, another rookie, Cam Whitmore, selected in 20th position, arrived at the same time as him.

The two young players will therefore go through all the stages together that make up this famous first season in the NBA.

“It’s great to have someone like Cam to share this experience”book Thompson at Houston Chronicle. “It’s better than going through this first year alone. I have a friend and a teammate with me, who does everything with me. So far, it’s great. I’m trying to make Cam my new twin. »

What does Whitmore think about it, who has already distinguished himself by winning the MVP trophy of the Las Vegas Summer League?

“On the floor, we clearly have the same mentality, the same desire to win. We want to make each other better. He’s a playmaker who can score, who sees the game well. He’s improved his outside shooting and I think our future looks bright. »

The Texan franchise has carried out an ambitious and experienced recruitment with notably Dillon Brooks, Fred VanVleet and Jeff Green and the two rookies will discover a new world, in addition to entering the NBA, by working alongside these established veterans.

“I tried to get my bearings, to be comfortable, to know where I was mentally and technically. Everything went well, I tried to make a name for myself,” says Whitmore about these training sessions with the veterans. “I am prepared for what comes next,” announces Amen Thompson. “I’m starting to know the guys, the cohesion has been great for two weeks as everyone is back. We play together and it’s great. »
