Contrary to what was initially announced by the franchise at the end of August, the jerseys of Amar’e Stoudemire and Shawn Marion will not be retired at the same time, in a week, on October 28. It will only be their entry into the Ring of Honor, a sort of local Hall of Fame.
The Suns have communicated new dates. One for each player. Shawn Marion will open the ball, with a ceremony scheduled for December 15, during the Knicks reception, for his number 31.
Amar’e Stoudemire will wait a few more weeks and March 2, 2024, as part of a game against the Rockets, to see his #32 hanging from the ceiling of the Footprint Center. The two former teammates will thus be the eleventh and twelfth players to be honored by the Suns.
They will notably find their former playmaker, Steve Nash (#13), or the 1993 finalists: Kevin Johnson (7), Dan Majerle (9) and obviously Charles Barkley (34).
