Amar’e Stoudemire accused of hitting his daughter

Amar’e Stoudemire is facing assault and battery charges when he allegedly punched one of his teenage daughters in the face. The 40-year-old former NBA player was arrested on Sunday, before being released later on $1,500 bail and a no-contact order with his daughter.

According to a copy from the police report obtained by the Miami Herald, the 2003 rookie of the year allegedly hit one of his two teenage daughters during an argument at his Miami home on Saturday night. The report does not specify which of Amar’e Stoudemire’s two daughters, ages 17 and 14, were beaten.

The former NBA player allegedly accused the girl in question of being disrespectful to her mother during a phone call. When she denied, he allegedly got annoyed –’you answer again‘ – before punching her in the jaw, leaving her bleeding, according to the report. The girl contacted her mother, Stoudemire’s ex-wife, who came to the home, took the two girls and their two brothers, and contacted the police.

The report states that when officers attended Amar’e Stoudemire’s home, he told them that the teenager ” was sad because she had received a correction from him for being disrespectful and a liar “. He then invoked his right to remain silent.

A silence from which he emerged, on social networks at least. He denounced an accusation based on a report that “ does not correspond to the facts » and assured: « I would never see myself attacking anyone, especially my children. I respect, protect and love my family, especially my children. »
