A few days after leaving the WNBA, with a little slip towards the salaries practiced by the American league, Gabby Williams made his return to Europe, joining Fenerbahce. And this week, she already had an important meeting, with the European Super Cup against Besiktas.
The match was played in two stages since, initially scheduled for Wednesday, it was interrupted from the very first moments by projectile jets, before being replayed on Thursday evening.
Besiktas dominated the first period before Gabby Williams, Marième Badiane (10 points) and their teammates accelerated after the break, also taking advantage of Nika Muhl's injury (11 points in 27 minutes). They finally impose themselves 79-63 and thus won a second European Super Cup in a row. As a reminder, Fenerbahçe won the Euroleague in 2023 and 2024.
It is therefore already a first trophy for Gabby Williams, just returned from her American adventure, but not the only one of the evening. Indeed, the 2024 Olympic vice-champion, by compiling 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, was also crowned MVP of the meeting.
