Already important matches to negotiate for the Heat

The Heat started their season poorly. After a (difficult) home victory against the Pistons, the 2023 finalists traveled to Boston, Minnesota and Milwaukee only to leave with a defeat each time. We must not neglect the calendar, far from being easy to negotiate with the Celtics and the Bucks, but the balance sheet remains poor (1-3) and could have been even worse if the young players of Detroit had not missed so many match points.

You have to win matches quickly and that’s good: the next three are scheduled in Miami, against the Nets, the Wizards and the Lakers. After that, we will have to leave for nine out of ten away matches.

“It’s an important home week for us”, confirms Erik Spoelstra. “We have a lot of work to do and there was movement at the start of the season. But that’s no excuse. We have to be productive this week, with time to do shootarounds and training. We have to make things happen. »

For Kyle Lowry, these six days in Florida can indeed do the group good.

“It will be very important to be at home and try to win matches. We have to start with a victory, already,” believes the Heat playmaker. “It’s an opportunity to be at home, to be able to train. Everyone will be comfortable, will find the routine and rhythm of the season. We traveled a lot. There, we can breathe, recover and feed off the energy of our audience. This will help us a little. »

The return of the wounded and here we go again?

What can help the Heat is also the return of the injured. Against the Bucks, Erik Spoelstra was deprived of Bam Adebayo, Caleb Martin and Haywood Highsmith. Jimmy Butler did not play the last act and he could miss the match against Brooklyn because of his right knee. It is therefore difficult to exist in the face of big teams.

“We have to deal with those who are there, we know that. Afterwards, having absentees, having a disrupted rotation, that doesn’t help. But that’s part of the NBA. We all want stability, especially away from home, at the start of the season,” explains Tyler Herro. “There are always injured people. We have to get everyone back,” continues Kyle Lowry.

Against Milwaukee, Josh Richardson started his season. “We are not where we want to be with our 1-3”, also launches the back of the Heat. His return is good news for Erik Spoelstra.

“We have a lot of players who are getting healthy and will be able to help us. If there is a glimmer of hope, it is that some of our players are getting back into shape,” announces the coach. “Richardson first.” Caleb is feeling better too, Highsmith is making huge progress. It’s all positive. Our density is one of our strengths. »
