Entrusted to the Pacers, the organization of the All-Star Game 2024 will innovate! On the sidelines of the all-star game to be held on Sunday February 18 at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, the Lucas Oil Stadium will be used to host the evening of contests to be held the day before. We will thus find the “Skills Challenge” as well as the dunk and 3-point shooting competitions.
Entering the stadium where the Colts (NFL) and the Indy Eleven (USL) usually reside allows you to see things on a large scale since the reception capacity for the public could increase from 17,000 to 35,000 seats in a new configuration with the possibility of reserving part of the land for the sporting side, and the other side for concerts or other events. Tickets for the 2024 All-Star Game will go on sale July 24.
A historical glance
“State Farm All-Star Saturday Night is one of the most exciting and entertaining nights in all of sport, and hosting it at Lucas Oil Stadium, one of American football’s most iconic venues, has also been designed for basketball events, allows us to make this event more accessible than ever to our community”, said Pacers Sports & Entertainment CEO Rick Fuson.
An indoor stadium, the Lucas Oil Stadium has notably been the scene of three NCAA Final Four events since its inauguration in 2008. There is also a practical side since it is located close to the Pacers’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Finally, it is also a wink since during the first (and only) organization of an All-Star Game in Indianapolis, in 1985, the event had already taken place in a stadium, the former enclosure of the Colts in this case, the RCA Dome.
