If Aleksa Avramovic wears number 30 with Serbia, it is in homage to Stephen Curry, his idol. And this summer, the new CSKA Moscow player has had several opportunities to cross swords with its model.
The best defender of the 2024 Olympic Games confides that it is also a rather special experience…
“It literally only needs one millimeter” he explains to Mozzart Sport. “I’ve never played against a player like that. I would have liked to play more games against him to get to know him and do better, but what he does is a miracle. He shoots, and you don’t see the ball go. I was always in a position to stop the shot, but it was always useless. He always had the little space he needed.”
It was especially in the semi-final that Aleksa Avramovic really understood why Stephen Curry was the best shooter in history, the “Splash Brother” compiling 36 points at 12/19, including 9/14 from afar!
Despite the bitter scenario of the match for his selection, the 29-year-old point guard/back takes the positive from it, and this bronze medal at the end. Now, he hopes that Svetislav Pesic will remain at the head of the Serbian selection, even if the 75-year-old technician has announced his intention to leave his post.
“I have to talk to him. I don't want to believe he did it. Not just me, but all the players. I hope he stays as coach. I think he knows everything about everything.”he concludes nonetheless.
