Aleksa Avramovic stays in Europe

We were wondering this weekend if Aleksa Avramovic was going to cross the Atlantic to play in the NBA next season. According to a Serbian dailyhe thus interested the Hawks and the Clippers, following his successful Olympic Games with Serbia in Paris (bronze medal, for 10.5 points, 3.2 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 interceptions on average).

Eventually, another Serbian daily reports that the 29-year-old point guard will not be heading to the United States this year, as his NBA release clause expires on Tuesday. As expected, he will instead play for CSKA Moscow, the club he recently signed with and whose training camp begins this weekend.

Revealed late and never drafted, Aleksa Avramovic was voted Best Defender of this Olympic tournament which allowed him to finally be in the spotlight. Unlike Guerschon Yabusele, no concrete offer has come his way and he will now have to wait another year if he wants to one day export his talents to America after having, until now, spent his entire career in Europe.
