Alain Gilles Trophy: Gabby Williams succeeds Victor Wembanyama

The competition was tough, with Guerschon Yabusele (125 points), Mathias Lessort (114 points) and of course Victor Wembanyama (114 points), but Gabby Williams (130 points) finally wins the Alain Gilles Trophy in 2024. In what constitutes the closest election in history.

This award has been awarded since 2015 to the best French basketball player or the best French female basketball player of the year, in tribute to the former legend of French basketball. After Céline Dumerc in 2017 and Laëtitia Guapo in 2022, this is the third time that a player has received this honor.

At 28 years old, Gabby Williams is playing at her best level. Having just returned from the WNBA, where she shone with Seattle, she still defends the colors of Fenerbahçe, without failing to shine there too. Before that, she played for ASVEL but had obviously made a splash during the Paris Olympic Games, coming only a few centimeters away from shaking Team USA even more in the final.

Note that DNA of Sports, through the voice of Emmanuel Laurin, was this year part of the jury selected by the FFBB.
