Essential to the Celtics’ success last season, and still valuable this season with an average of 10.9 points and 6.3 rebounds, Al Horford was out of contract at the end of this 2022/2023 fiscal year.
The Boston franchise did not want to relive the scenario of the summer of 2019 when the interior had gone to Philadelphia, to sign a big contract there (97 million over four years). The leaders have therefore taken the lead in offering a two-year, $ 20 million contract extension to the former Atlanta.
The latter accepted tells us ESPN and here he is under contract until 2025. The former All-Star will then be 39 years old and the hard core of the 2022 finalists will thus remain intact for another two years (Jaylen Brown is free in 2024).
