Al Horford attentive to the Celtics’ start to the season

The Celtics’ offseason was obviously marked by the sidelining of Ime Udoka. A shock which we will have to wait for the first matches to know the importance of it on the group of finalists 2022.

Because ambitions are high in Boston, even more now that the franchise has replayed the Finals. But for Al Horford, the success of last season is no guarantee for the one that starts next week.

“We must not skip the stages, that’s the most important”, insist inside for The Athletic. “I am satisfied with our training camp, our concentration, everyone’s involvement. The guys are working. We are motivated, we are not resting on our laurels. Having done something one season means nothing for the next. We start from scratch and we have to rebuild everything. »

Last season, the Celtics only had a string of victories from the end of January. Before that, the performances were very irregular, even sometimes worrying. An ignition delay that the former Hawks does not want to relive. “The main thing for us was to be ready for the start of the season. We sort of waited all summer to be in this position. »

What could help, despite the change of coach, is precisely the successful end of the season, with good playoffs and the Finals against the Warriors. The Celtics have finally found the right formula, the workforce has not changed this summer, it only remains to repeat the performances of the second half of the 2021/2022 season from October.

“We have a lot of the elements that we already had last year. This continuity is positive. Our identity is established, we know each other. Last season, at the start, we were trying to find her. As the season progressed, we found each other. We are ready to go. »
