Against Cleveland, Draymond Green gets his first expulsion of the season

Draymond Green constantly flirts with the limits, and therefore sometimes goes beyond them. New example last night, during the Warriors’ defeat at home against the Cavaliers.

The strong winger had already taken a technical foul in the second quarter, for having too harshly criticized a foul called against him on the rebound. Sensing his team in difficulty, Draymond Green was even more aggressive after halftime, as he tried to harangue the fans and his teammates.

The problem is that with already a technical foul in his bag, he was on a wire, and Donovan Mitchell knew it. After an interception at the back of Ohio, the interior appears overexcited. And on the next attack, while the Cavalier is at his height, Draymond Green pushes him aside with a big shoulder blow. The referees see nothing but Donovan Mitchell comes, on the retreat, to foul his opponent, triggering the start of a scuffle.

Donovan Mitchell smarter

Above all, the incident forces the referees to review the previous sequence, to understand the annoyance of “Spida”. The latter received a classic foul and Draymond Green received a new technical foul. Expulsion…

“I didn’t know that it was possible to receive a technical foul for an action that had taken place beforehand” wonders Kevon Looney. JB Bickerstaff was proud of his players, Donovan Mitchell having been very clever, forcing the referees to analyze the entire sequence without getting into trouble.

“Our guys defend and protect themselves. There was a sequence before where Donovan was hit in the back. We talked about it, we don’t back down from anyone. We are proud of our guys, who defended themselves, but also for not letting the match change and not getting drawn into something that didn’t have to happen, to allow them to make a run » explains the coachwho had noted the attitude of Draymond Green after halftime. “It was premeditated so that their team would re-mobilize. We felt it throughout the third quarter. I think this could have been nipped in the bud a little earlier.”
