In 24 hours, the Jazz have just completed the perfect “road trip” to Florida with a great success in Miami, followed by a victory in Orlando where it is very difficult to win this season. Like the day before, Will Hardy was able to count on a great Brice Sensabaugh, who leaves Florida with 61 points scored in two matches!
After an observation round, it was Kyle Filipowski who put the Jazz in the lead (15-13) against a non-existent Magic interior defense. It's not necessarily better on the Jazz side, and Jonathan Isaac and Wendell Carter Jr. take the opportunity to sign a 12-2 to sign the first gap of the meeting (25-17). Sensabaugh's entry is needed for Jazz to regain color and limit the damage (25-22).
Svi Mykhailiuk goes to get the And-1, and the Jazz take back the reins of the meeting. Sensabaugh is as skillful as ever, and Collin Sexton takes over to keep control. On the Orlando side, Cole Anthony is not successful in his return to the starting five, between lost balls and his poor shot selection. It was finally Caleb Houstan who scored from afar to equalize before the break (43-43).
The Magic cracks
Upon returning from the locker room, the match turns into a duel between Anthony and Sexton. Advantage at the back of the Jazz, who can count on Walker Kessler as an intimidator and launching pad. The Magic is finding it more and more difficult to score, and Sexton insists (57-50). The Magic is on the verge of breakdown, and it is the inevitable Sensabaugh who responds to Carter Jr (66-59). The Jazz insist under the boards, and the Eubanks-Filipowski pair increases the gap above 20 points (75-64).
All that remains is for Sensabaugh to deliver the blow. The “sophomore” plants eight points in a row to give him a 17-point lead. This time, Orlando is KO, and the “garbage time” allows Jett Howard to improve his stats, while the gap will reach 20 points (89-69). Final victory for Jazz (105-92), without Lauri Markkanen, John Collins and Keyonte George, deprived of “back-to-back”.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
A bloodless Magic. No Paolo Banchero, Jalen Suggs, Moritz and Franz Wagner, nor Gary Harris in between. Even Anthony Black, supposed to return from a back injury, ultimately did not set foot on the floor.
Sensabaugh, the revelation. The Jazz leaders can exchange Collin Sexton and/or Jordan Clarkson, they have a new scorer coming off the bench! After his 34 points against the Heat, the imposing winger scored 27 points with remarkable skill: 11/19 shooting including 5/6 from 3-point range.
Jazz loves the East and traveling. Will Hardy's players have a positive record against Eastern franchises, with six wins and four defeats. Another particularity of this Jazz: it has won seven of its nine victories away!
