Boston once again dominated Atlanta in Game 2. After an early game to the advantage of the Hawks, the Celtics quickly took control of the game to finally win quite easily (119-106).
Joe Mazzulla’s men logically lead 2-0 in the series, against a totally helpless opponent. And Trae Young is a sort of symbol. In Game 2, the Hawks’ star point guard shot 9/22 including 2/8 from 3-pointers, in addition to having the worst +/- of the game with -18.
“I could be better” recognized Trae Young. “I didn’t shoot very well. I made a few ball losses while I was attacking the basket. I will be better at home”.
It must be said that Trae Young is currently in great difficulty. In Game 1, he had already sunk with a 5/18 shot. Totally suffocated by the Celtics’ defense, his statistics on the series after two games are very worrying: 14/40 including 3/13 at 3-points. We can add to that 10 loss of balls or 5 on average per game.
Last season, he had already been suffocated by the Heat’s defense at this same stage of the competition. He finished the series with just 15.4 points per game, with 32% shooting skill including 18.4% from behind the arc…
“It is obvious that the last two years we have played against the number 1 and number 2 seed” said Trae Young. “It’s also obvious that everyone knows that the defenses are focused on me, and it’s up to me to make the right decisions and make the right readings. I didn’t play at my best today, and I know I will in the future. I’m not worried “.
Trae Young therefore remains rather confident. Same story on the side of his coach, Quin Snyder, as the series now takes the direction of Atlanta, where the Hawks already have no room for error.
“I know Trae. He will be the first to watch videos of the game on the plane, trying to find ways to play better.” concluded Quin Snyder. “I think we have a lot of guys who will do it, and I will definitely do it too”.
