After 20 defeats in a row, the Fever finds the fever of victory

Big feeling, or rather big relief in the WNBA! After 20 straight losses, the Indiana Fever finally won a game. Sunday, the players of Christie Sides imposed themselves on the floor of the Atlanta Dream (90-87). This is the franchise’s first victory since June 19, 2022. This success therefore ends a streak of 20 straight losses, the longest in WNBA history tied with the Tulsa Shock (2011) since become the Dallas Wings.

“We talked about it from day one in our team meeting: Identity is the most important thing” says Christie Sidesthe Fever coach. “The culture, the fact of playing hard, of being the team gives the most in training. And I promise you, and I know coaches say this all the time, but these girls really gave it their all every day.”.

To avoid becoming, alone, the most zero team in history with 21 losses in a row, the Indiana players relied on their youth. NaLyssa Smith2nd choice of the 2022 Draft, had a very good performance with 23 points and 12 rebounds at 10/16 shooting. Aliyah Bostonthe 1st pick in the 2023 Draft, added 13 points and 7 rebounds on 5/7 shooting.

We’re building something here, and it’s going to take time.” added the coach. “It was really important for us to get this win, away, for Atlanta’s first home game this season, with a good atmosphere. Each focused on their role and did exactly what they were supposed to do. These are the things we have been working on”.
