Adrian Wojnarowski wishes Shams Charania the best on ESPN

I look forward to being part of an incredible group of colleagues at ESPN. » On X/Twitterwith its 2.4 million subscribers, Shams Charania showed his enthusiasm as he joined the American sports giant.

Adrian Wojnarowski, the man he will replace, also welcomes this arrival. “ Shams messaged me after I announced my retirement. And you know what? I told him what I would say today, which was that I hope he has a career as fulfilling and rewarding as mine “, thus displays the old “insider” on The Jim Rome Show.

The student replaces the teacher

The new leader adds: “ And that’s what I wish for him. He's right about the incredible group of colleagues he's going to find at ESPN, the best of the best, incredible reporters, on-air talent. That was always my favorite thing about ESPN. Colleagues who lift you up, […] I already miss them. »

For the record, the journeys of the two men are closely linked. In 2015, Shams Charania, now 30 years old, began teaming up with “Woj” for The Vertical, the basketball entity of Yahoo! Sports. After several years of collaboration, the “father” ended up being recruited by ESPN, to which he had migrated without forgetting to dub the “son”: “ The best young basketball journalist on the planet ”, according to him.

Since then, relations between the two men had largely cooled, as they competed fiercely for scoops through tweets, but the student now has a royal road ahead of him.
