The dramas are linked for the coaches of the Bucks. After Mike Budenholzer, who had lost one of his brothers during the last playoffs, his successor Adrian Griffin had the pain of learning of the death of his grandson Jayce, only two years old. This is the son of Alan Griffin, who participated in the Las Vegas Summer League.
According to the medical examiner’s report, the child was found unresponsive by his father in Champaign, Illinois.
Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency services, his death was pronounced Saturday morning by the emergency department of the Carle Foundation hospital in Urbana. Preliminary results from an autopsy performed on Monday revealed no evidence of trauma or injury, but the investigation continues to determine the exact cause of death.
The Bucks meanwhile confirmed the news yesterday, relaying a statement from their new coach.
“My grandson Jayce was very special to me and my family, his passing is an agonizing tragedy that will be felt forever. I appreciate you respecting the pain and privacy of our family at this time.”, did he declare.
As a reminder, Adrian Griffin is also the father of AJ Griffin, who is coming out of a first NBA season in Atlanta.
