Accused of rape in Oregon, Ben McLemore faces a very long prison sentence

It is at the Portland airport that Ben McLemore was arrested and taken into custody on Tuesday. The 7th choice of the 2013 Draft was thus the subject of an arrest warrant, with four counts against him, including first degree rape, therefore using force or threat, without the consent of the other person.

It was on October 3, 2021 that the facts allegedly occurred, and the police explained that the investigation was delayed, despite the evidence gathered, because the former player of the Kings, Rockets, Grizzlies, Lakers and therefore of the Blazers has spent a lot of time overseas the last two years.

Not retained by Portland at the end of the 2021/22 season, Ben McLemore then played in China and Greece. He was returning from freelancing in Rio Breogan, Spain, when he was arrested by US Marshals.

Immediately taken into custody, the 31-year-old full-back/winger was released during the day on Wednesday, on bail of $500,000, including an immediate payment of $50,000. He will be heard in court on July 1. If he is found guilty of all the charges against him, Ben McLemore risks a very, very heavy sentence.
