A three-year contract extension for Nikola Vucevic at the Bulls?

We know that Nikola Vucevic has been discussing a contract extension with the Bulls for a few days. While he nevertheless has the possibility of testing the market as a “free agent”, the Montenegrin pivot has thus started talks with his club, an agreement before June 30 being quite probable.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago is seeking to extend its incumbent for three additional seasons. A contract that would be based on that of Zach LaVine, whose extension ends in 2026/27, except that the last year (at 49 million dollars) is a “player option” and that the rear can therefore be “free agent in 2026.

For Arturas Karnisovas, the club’s sporting boss, extending Nikola Vucevic and synchronizing his contract with that of Zach LaVine is a way of aiming for continuity.

The former leader of Denver has no intention of blowing up his group, despite a very disappointing season, concluded without playoffs. He is counting on Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic, but also DeMar DeRozan, whose contract ends in 2023/24, believing that the club has everything to play the leading roles in the East.

Provided, however, that Lonzo Ball finds his best level, while his multiple knee operations, including one “last chance”, make his future on the pitch very uncertain…
