Compared to Nikola Jokic by his new coach, Ime Udoka, Alperen Sengun is still progressing after two seasons in the NBA. The Turk comes out of a rather successful season on the individual level with 14.8 points, 9 rebounds and 3.9 assists on average in 29 minutes.
But as the Rockets have gone up a notch with a large and ambitious recruitment during the offseason, the interior knows that it will still have to cross a course.
“I didn’t really take a break after the season”he explains at The Bradeaux & Will Show. “This summer is really important to me. I brought in a coach from Serbia, with whom I worked when I was in Besiktas, who took care of my shoot. I’m in much better shape than last year. I mainly work on my shooting and my movements, my support. »
He also rubbed shoulders with his teammate Jabari Smith Jr, who then dominated in the Summer League. “Before the summer league, I was going one-on-one with him every day. Jabari never says no. »
Alperen Sengun has already targeted areas of play where he wants to improve.
“I know I need to move better on the pitch,” he concedes. “I am also aware that I have to defend better. My defense isn’t bad, but I struggled on pick-and-roll last season. Lastly, I want to take more 3-point shots. It’s my aim. »
