A statue of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna in front of the Lakers hall?

According to DailyMailthe Lakers are waiting for the symbolic date of August 8, 2024 (08/08/24) to pay a new tribute to Kobe Bryant, and it would be with the reveal of a statue in front of the Crypto.com Arena. Considered by some to be the greatest player in the history of the Lakers, Kobe does not have a statue in front of the old Staples Center, unlike Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Elgin Baylor or Shaquille O’Neal.

This statue would represent him with his daughter, Gianna, who died with her father in a helicopter crash in January 2020. Kobe’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, is said to be involved in the project, but no artist has yet been chosen for the design .

An equivalent statue already exists on the scene of the tragedy, and on the base, we can read the inscription “Heroes come and go, but legends are forever”along with the names of other crash victims: Christina Mauser, Payton and Sarah Chester, John, Keri and Alyssa Altobelli, and pilot Ara Zobayan.
