A short-term summit or the start of a successful adventure? This is a bit of the question that will arise for the Pacers this season. After the surprise conference final last spring, the Indiana franchise will try to do better, or at least as well. The strength of the group? Continuity, praised by Tyrese Haliburton.
“I think if the training camp was so refreshing, it’s because the continuity is the most important I’ve experienced in my career,” delivers the leader. “I have never had the same defensive coach two years in a row. This is the first time that they (Jenny Boucek and Jim Boylen) are still there. I never had any consistency in attack and, there too, there were no changes. We have the same technical staff, the same group. »
“I’m not satisfied with just one Eastern Conference final”
Why is this so important for the Olympic champion? “It’s so refreshing and exciting because we spend less time explaining the principles of the game and more in detail, in complex things”specifies Tyrese Haliburton. “This is what will allow us to move forward. »
Doing better, after a conference final, will logically mean going to the Finals. A very ambitious goal for a team that has only made the playoffs once in four years.
“We had a great season, we did unique things. But to be honest, in my opinion, we didn't do anything more than we had to do. We had expectations and we did what we wanted to do. But we want more,” assures Tyrese Haliburton. “You have to be greedy if you really want to do something great. I'm not satisfied with just one Eastern Conference Final. It's not enough for me. I want more for my career. We have a lot of players who are very motivated and it starts with Pascal Siakam and me. »
