A perfect first for Guerschon Yabusele

With 15 points in 17 minutes at 100% shooting, Guerschon Yabusele couldn't imagine a better night for his big debut with the Sixers. It was at home, against the New Zealand Breakers, and the Frenchman played a major role in the Sixers' big victory (139-84). Alongside him, three other players finished with 15 points: Tyrese Maxey, Reggie Jackson and Jared McCain.

As expected, Joel Embiid was not there, Paul George neither, and it was Andre Drummond who took his place in the racket alongside Caleb Martin. We immediately understood that it would be a one-sided evening and Nick Nurse was able to turn things around (+21 after 12 minutes, +37 at half-time).

From the first quarter, Guerschon Yabusele came on to replace Andre Drummond in a “small ball” five. The Frenchman entered the company of Kyle Lowry as the 6th or 7th man, and from the outset, he stood out for his opportunism. Like on this first basket where he sets a screen for Kyle Lowry from nine meters away, only to be on the receiving end of the pass under the circle on the pick-and-roll.

Given the level of the opponent, we will wait for the next opposition against the Wolves to gauge a little better these “new look” Sixers, and especially Guerschon Yabusele, who should rub shoulders with Rudy Gobert, Naz Reid and Julius Randle.
