According 247Sportsthe Celtics will complete their staff with Amile Jefferson who had previously worked as an assistant to Duke. Aged only 30, he joined the Blue Devils staff in 2021, under the management of Mike Krzyzewski, and he kept his place after Jon Scheyer took over.
Before moving on to coaching, Amile Jefferson had played for four years at the professional level, including a brief stint in the NBA on the side of the Magic between 2018 and 2020 where he had only played around thirty games. In 2020, he had also signed a 10-day contract with the Celtics, who had not followed up.
A former Blue Devil
In college, this former interior had proudly worn the colors of Duke between 2012 and 2017, and he had even been captain for three seasons, a record under Coach K.. With the Blue Devils, he was crowned NCAA champion in 2015, and during his last university season, he even played alongside a certain Jayson Tatum, in a workforce where there were also Luke Kennard, Grayson Allen and Harry Giles.
For this first experience as an NBA assistant, Jefferson will be surrounded by big names since Boston has recruited Sam Cassell and Charles Lee.
