While we expected a season without stakes on the side of Utah, the players of Will Hardy were part of the good surprises of the season, fighting to the end for a place in play-in, and finishing with a record well above expectations, 37 wins for 45 losses.
“This year, everyone has progressed very quickly and grown very quickly” said Jordan Clarkson. “I think next year we’ll get back to our ‘winner’ habits and we’ll have the opportunity to fight for something”.
Arrived at Jazz during the 2019/20 season, Jordan Clarkson had come to strengthen a competitive team around Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert or Bojan Bogdanovic. The biggest contract of his career?
This season, Jordan Clarkson regained a starting position, and he took the opportunity to achieve the best campaign of his career with 20.8 points and 4.4 assists on average in 61 games. The black point is this finger injury which deprived him of the end of the season.
While he has a player option at 14.2 million dollars, he should decline it to become free agent. A rather logical decision when you have just had the best season of your career. Especially since soon to be 31, he knows it’s the perfect timing to aim for the biggest contract of his career. As a reminder, he had declined offers of extensions from the Jazz during the season, preferring to wait for the summer to make a decision.
However, he says he hasn’t thought about his future yet, and will soon talk to his family and his agent Rich Paul to determine the best decision to make.
“I didn’t even think about it, I haven’t thought about it all year. It’s just a discussion that we will eventually have, and we will find a solution ” advanced Jordan Clarkson. “I don’t know…I don’t even know what I’m going to eat tomorrow!” Or within an hour. I don’t even think about it, frankly, and I can’t answer that question right now.”.
What he needs to know is that he has until June 29 to decide whether or not to activate this player option.
