Nike innovated for the Nike GT Cut 3, drawing inspiration from the signature second lines of major players (like the Giannis Immortality for Giannis Antetokounmpo or the LeBron Witness for LeBron James) by designing a version derived from the first, more affordable, called Nike GT Cut “Academy”.
The upper between mesh and leather is more simplistic, accompanied by a sole intended to be both comfortable and responsive to rapid changes of direction and all types of support. The outsole accentuates this grip effect, while the midsole works more for comfort, with a Zoom Air unit placed at the forefoot, under two superimposed layers of foam as a midsole.
Like the Nike GT Cut 3, the Nike GT Cut Academy also benefits from its “Community of Hoops” colorway, supposed to reflect the spirit of the Olympic Games. The pearly white-beige upper is complemented by light blue finishes on the tongue, heel or the “Swoosh” on the upper. The light blue midsole sits atop a darker outsole.
