A class of gap between the Grizzlies of Ja Morant and the Spurs of Victor Wembanyama

While waiting for the beginnings of D'aaron Fox, the Spurs bowed for the second stage of their annual “road trip”, while the rodeo occupies their lair. San Antonio did not make the weight in the Grizzlies, quiet winners 128-109.

If the meeting begins three -quarters of an hour late due to a medical emergency for a Memphis supporterVictor Wembanyama is well on time. French is everywhere in the first minutes and is not afraid of any attempt, not even the logo after six seconds of possession. And everything succeeds, with 12 of the first 15 points of the Spurs, partial drums (8-15).

Back from two absence games, Ja Morant replied after the quick release of “Wemby”. The leader of the Grizzlies scored nine points of row to put his family back in the spot. The Spurs suffer without their star, when the premises strike by far: 7/11 to 3-point in the first quarter alone, to lead by six points.

A decisive 19-0 for grizzleas

The return of Victor Wembanyama and the rotations of the Grizzlies give a little air to the Spurs. As a symbol, it is once again the exit of the neo all-star which drops the Château de Carte Texan. Returning to two points, San Antonio collapses completely and continues the lost balloons.

Grizzlies enjoy it in transition, or to take advantage of a defense not quite in place. Memphis signs a thunderous 19-0, punctuated by a Dunk by GG Jackson, very good (27 points). In the strings with 21 points behind, visitors react late thanks to a very good passage from Stephon Castle in attack, and Victor Wembanyama in defense. With a 12-0, the breakage is limited to the break (61-49).

Spurs do not benefit from their end of the end of the first period. Defense is not there, especially on pick-and-rolls. While the lost ball festival continues, the Wembanyama duo-Castle tries to keep San Antonio afloat, and the address is at the rendezvous. But to leave too many easy baskets, visitors prevent themselves from giving up completely. Clinics, the Grizzlies support where it hurts, and also ideally exploit the few minutes of rest by Victor Wembanyama.

The gap oscillates around the ten lengths, and descends even a time under this symbolic bar. But the two Jackson of Memphis, GG and Jaren, are distributed. Spurs have once again struggling with a game placed when Wembanyama is not on the parquet floor, and Zach Edey makes his physique speak near the circle (16 points, 14 rebounds). This time, the blow is fatal in San Antonio, who cashes a 12-4 killing all hope of Comeback. Memphis is applied and does not even seem to need to force to drive the nail and get closer to the 130 points registered.

What to remember

– Spurs scuttled themselves. San Antonio has spoiled far too many ammunition to hope to doubt a team as well oiled as the grizzlyats. The Texans accumulate 23 lost balloons (nine for the Duo Castle – “Wemby”), sanctioned behind by 34 points of Memphis. The arrival of De'Aaron Fox is timely to restore a little life and stability to attack the Spurs on half-terrain.

– Memphis has reached its cruising speed. Grizzlies have confirmed their status as the most fit team in the league in recent weeks with a ninth success in ten games. The leaders responded once again present with the 31 points of Jaren Jackson Jr, and the double-double while controlled by Ja Morant (25 points, 11 assists). This beautiful series confirms their second place in the West.
