Less than ten days ago, the Bulls started a match against Miami by conceding a 22-1, before finally finding the resources to come back and then win. They have just experienced the same scenario, but reversed, in Brooklyn.
After six minutes, the Chicago players were in fact 19 units ahead (22-3). But the Nets will come back, thanks to a shower of award-winning shots. In the second quarter, they scored a superb 11/16 at 3 pts!
“There was a moment when I was blown away. I looked at Mikal Bridges after a Royce O’Neale shot and told him that was crazy. Collectively, it was pleasant”comments Lonnie Walker IV for the New York Post.
The franchise record was only two steps away
At the end of the first quarter, the Brooklyn troops were trailing 13-34. They then passed a 33-7, to completely reverse the trend. Something to rejoice Jacque Vaughn.
“I told my players to stick together, that we would find the solution by the end of the match,” explains the Nets coach. “So you have to give credit to my players. I’ve seen so many matches like that where, back-to-back, the energy isn’t there at the start and you lose because you give up. This group did not react like that. »
These eleven winning baskets in the second quarter are a new record for the Brooklyn franchise. The match ended with 25 baskets scored for 52 attempts, or 47% success rate. The franchise record (27) was not far off, nor was the league record (29).
“The ball rolled, we were selfless and we were rewarded,” notes Jacque Vaughn for ESPN. “There was energy in attack,” continues Lonnie Walker IV, author of six award-winning shots like Royce O’Neale. “We were shooting well. We were in sync collectively. I put in, Royce too. The other players were aggressive, made the right choices, set the pace. We got the upper hand together. »
