There FFBB has revealed a list of 16 players selected to participate in a preparation course for the French 3×3 Team. It will be in Beauvais from February 20 to 25. Not yet qualified for the Paris Olympic Games, the Blues will have two out of three possibilities of obtaining one of the five remaining tickets.
As the organizing country, France will thus participate in the pre-Olympic tournaments in Utsunomiya (Japan) from May 3 to 5, 2024 then, if necessary, in that of Debrecen (Hungary) from May 16 to 19, 2024. There will only be one ticket at stake in Japan, and if France does not win it, there will still be three available in Hungary.
France is currently ranked 6th in the world in the FIBA Ranking, after finishing 4th in the last 3×3 European Cup last September. The French men's 3×3 team will be aiming for a first-ever qualification for the Olympic Games after moving within a qualifying victory at the 2021 Olympic Qualification Tournament.
In this group of 16 players, we note the presence of the French number one, Franck Seguela (2m00m), and Antoine Eito (1m86), bronze medalist at the 2022 World Cup. Alongside them, three new and not new smaller: Axel Toupane (2m01), Lahaou Konaté (1m98) and Romuald Morency (2m01).
Among women, France already has its ticket for the Olympic Games as the 3rd nation in the world.
