Everything works for Jayson Tatum Right now. Sportingly, here he is, NBA champion for the first time with the Celtics. Financially, he will soon be in possession of biggest contract in history.
As reported by ESPN last night, the All-Star winger will receive a “supermax” type extension offer from the Celticsto the height of $315 million over five years. Never seen before, while his brother-in-arms Jaylen Brown “settled” for $304 million over five years in 2023. Even if Luka Doncic will quickly overtake him…
The best winger in the NBA?
Anything but a surprise, since even if he was not named Finals MVP, Jayson Tatum remains the franchise player of Boston. Extremely productive (26.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.7 blocks) and available (354 games played out of a possible 390) since becoming an All-Star in 2019–20, the 26-year-old has established himself as the best position 3 in the league for the past three years, consistently appearing on the All-NBA First Team. He is also the only American player of the five type of the year for two seasons.
Note that “Jay”, who we will also see in Paris this summer with Team USA, during the Olympic Games, will not be the only member of the Celtics to be upgraded, since the extension of Derrick White is also expected. Nothing urgent however, while the Celtic leaders are lucky to have the eight main players in their rotation under contract for next season…
