Alongside the revelation of the list of 41 players pre-selected for the 2024 Olympic Games, the American Federation revealed the friendly match schedule. Unless there is a change, Team USA will only play three friendly matches.
The first will take place in Las Vegas, on the sidelines of their preparation camp, and they have opted for an opponent of choice: Canada. Even if it is only a friendly match, the intensity should be there since it will be the revenge of the final for 3rd place in the last World Cup. Led by an exceptional Dillon Brooks, the Canadians won 127-118 after overtime to snatch the bronze medal. This rematch is scheduled for July 10.
Only three friendly matches?
The American federation also confirmed that Team USA will make a stopover in England with two matches on the program. The Americans will face South Sudan on July 20 at the O2 Arena in London, then Germany on July 22. Reigning world champion, Germany eliminated the United States in the semi-final.
As the Olympic Games begin on July 24, these will undoubtedly be the last two preparation matches before the start of the competition, and it is not certain that the Federation will add matches between July 10 and 22.
