2023 World Cup: Brandon Ingram and Jaren Jackson Jr. also with Team USA

Two months before the first preparation match for the 2023 World Cup against Puerto Rico in Las Vegas, we know the names of two additional players ready to join Team USA.

To the first five names already known (Tyrese Haliburton, Austin Reaves, Anthony Edwards, Mikal Bridges and Bobby Portis), to which we must undoubtedly add Jalen Brunson, are now added two elements of choice, announced by Adrian Wojnarowski : Brandon Ingram and Jaren Jackson Jr!

Although he has only played 45 games this season, Brandon Ingram has the versatile scoring profile coach Steve Kerr was looking for, and necessary. It’s a bit the same for Jaren Jackson Jr, who has the modern interior profile but who should mainly operate as a defensive base within Team USA.

The full selection of 12 players should be known before the start of July. This will have the mission of making people forget the sad 7th place won by the American team in 2019.

As in 2010, during the World Cup won in Turkey by young Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook and Stephen Curry, surrounded by a few veterans (Chauncey Billups, Lamar Odom, Andre Iguodala…), the United States is therefore betting on a group young, with stars in the making. It remains to be seen which veterans will accompany them, while Draymond Green, for example, seemed rather interested in the idea…
