The New York Yankees still haven’t addressed their left field shortcoming, even claiming outfielder Aaron Hicks would be the current starter at that position. Phew…
But now the file may not be closed, even if the words of general manager Brian Cashman could suggest it. After having had discussions to acquire the services of Bryan Reynolds, Max Kepler and Jurickson Profar, now the name of David Peralta has surfaced.
It’s unclear if talks are going well, but interest from the Bronx Bombers seems clear.
The latter are reluctant to put Profar under contract, because this would make them exceed a level of the luxury tax. Peralta would therefore be a very nice option at a reasonable price.
It’s obvious the 35-year-old isn’t a defensive wonder, but his batting could help the Yankees, cannonading twelve long balls in 2022 and maintaining a .251 batting average during his career. 490 batting appearances with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Rays.
All the solutions to get Hicks out of the lineup are welcome for the supporters of the New York formation…
