World Classic: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not (completely) ruled out

Over the past few days, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. withdrew from the World Classic due to swelling in his knee. It was he who made the decision out of prevention.

It was the right thing to do.

And what is good is that his progress is notable. Right now, he’s feeling great (getting better, actually) and he’s going to start hitting the batting cage again over the next few days.

He is therefore on the right path.

His primary goal is to be ready for the Blue Jays season. He should start playing games again in the next few days, I imagine.

But we must not forget that he would have really liked to represent his country. Inevitably, it will stay in his mind since it does not happen often.

And according to Nelson Cruz, DG of the Dominicans, the dream is not dead.

If he is fit enough, there is a possibility of him representing his country towards the end of the tournament, which starts tonight.

In practice, a player who is not on the base line-up cannot participate in the round robin (March 11-15 for the Dominican Republic), but he can, in case of injuryreplacing a player in the medal round.

If he gets better, I imagine the Dominicans will look for a way to make room for him…

  • Mike Clevinger wants to move on.
  • There have been more base steals since the start of the camp.
