What if the Cubs signed two shortstops?

The Cubs is a club that has money. The owners haven’t always wanted to spend it, but they have plenty of money.

Last year, they were therefore on the case of certain shortstop players, but the timing was not ideal. So they waited.

But this year, they seem ready to spend a bit more, in order to speed up the process of rebuilding the club.

A name that is on the lips of the formation is Carlos Correa. He was also last year and I wouldn’t be amazed if he were to sign in Chicago this winter.

But there is a world where the Cubs could sign two big names in the market.

We will remember that last year, two of the five big names (Corey Seager and Marcus Semien) landed in Texas. Semien then took the path of the second goal.

What if the Cubs did the same?

According to Mark Feinsand, the Cubs are considering signing two guys (probably Xander Bogaerts and Dansby Swanson, the two least expensive) this winter.

That would probably mean Xander Bogaerts going to play third base. Would he be willing to accept this? I do not know.

If such a scenario were to occur on the Chicago side, it would surely not involve Carlos Correa, who should earn a contract close to that of Trea Turner. Recall that the Phillies had Turner with $ 300 million over 11 years.

With two good shortstops, the Cubs would be on the right track offensively. Would they have enough money to add arms?

But in fact, even a single shortstop would already be a great starting point.

  • Andrew Heaney and Josh Bell (Texas and Cleveland) find takers.
  • The Blue Jays target position players.
  • Cody Bellinger is approaching a contract.
  • Jose Berrios at the World Classic.
