Wave of waivers: where will the free players end up?

Following the wave of waivers that was a little out of the ordinary on Tuesday, we are entitled to wonder where the players who have been made available by their respective teams will end up.

Let’s start with the one who turns out to be the youngest, the least expensive and the most likely to be claimed today, namely outfielder Harrison Bader who played with the New York Yankees.

All teams want to improve their outfield defense and that’s exactly what Bader can do, being one of the best defensive outfielders in MLB.

The Miami Marlins, who have been looking for someone to patrol center field since 1993 (I’m just exaggerating), will certainly be among the teams interested in acquiring the services of Darth Bader.

Not to mention the Philadelphia Phillies, the Boston Red Sox (all the more so with Jarren Duran’s injury) and the San Francisco Giants.

If Bader is no longer available, those same teams will likely also be lining up to get their hands on Randal Grichuk and Hunter Renfroe of the Los Angeles Angels.

They will not be alone, however, since the Los Angeles Dodgers could enter the dance in order to replace the stroke of JD Martinez.

The Cincinnati Reds and their growing injured list are likely to raise their hands too, as are the Toronto Blue Jays who are desperately looking for a solution to their woes.

Grichuk is a little more approachable than Renfroe, is having a much better season against left-handers and can play center occasionally, giving him the advantage against teams that will want to snare him.

The three above-mentioned outfielders will be joined by Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez, Matt Moore, Dominic Leone, Mike Clevinger, Carlos Carrasco and Jose Cisnero on waivers.

All this to say that it will be very interesting to follow these files in the coming hours.
