If you thought the Wander Franco saga was going to die a beautiful death, think again. It's not over, far from it.
Just yesterday (Tuesday), the Department of Child and Youth Safety in the city of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic reportedly searched two homes in search of the Tampa Bay Rays star, but did not was able to locate it.
This is in fact what a Dominican newspaper reports, the Listin Diario.
Police reportedly searched the homes of Franco and his mother and left their contact details with Franco's wife. The new report does not specify whether authorities were trying to arrest Franco or simply interrogate him.
The shortstop is currently under investigation by authorities in the Dominican Republic and MLB after allegations of inappropriate relationships with at least two minors surfaced last summer.
When the allegations first emerged in August, the Rays placed Franco on forced leave. Shortly after, major league baseball placed the Dominican on administrative leave for the final 42 games of the 2023 season.
Journalist Hector Gomez said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that new evidence had allegedly been found that would further implicate Franco in his quagmire.
You always have to take it and leave it with Gomez's claims, but let's just say there's no smoke without fire.
