Today, Wander Franco was not on the field with his people. The Tampa Bay Rays player, who saw the Rays giving away caps of him, was only enjoying a day off, according to Kevin Cash.
But is this really the case?
Obviously, the manager won’t say if it’s true or not, but it should be mentioned that Wander Franco has been the target of several tweets on the X platform recently.
Basically, it was claimed, rightly or wrongly, that the shortstop had an inappropriate relationship with an underage person.
Cash said he knew about it, but didn’t make his decision based on it. Obviously, he can’t say the opposite right now, which is normal.
The Rays said they are in contact with MLB to shed some light on what happened. They also say they take everything very seriously.
In place of Franco, one of the club’s best prospects (Osleivis Basabe) took the star spot in the line-up.
Wander Franco is 22 years old.
The one who recently signed an 182 million dollar contract over 11 years could well be in trouble if the situation is confirmed. After all, we are potentially talking about pedophilia.
Can this lead to the end of his career? Possibly, yes.
I imagine that, under the circumstances, MLB will hold a quick investigation. After all, if the rumors are true, he shouldn’t be playing. And if they aren’t, he shouldn’t be left out.
But whether this is confirmed or not (it’s not for me to judge that), there will always be doubts in people’s heads.
