Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will let his talent do the talking this season

Do not expect sensational statements from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at the start of his activities, a prelude to a new season in major league baseball.

Let’s remember that last year, at the same date, Guerrero Jr. had mentioned that fans had attended the trailer in 2021 and that 2022 would be the pretext to enjoy the film in its full format.

Did the Toronto Blue Jays number 27 need to put pressure on his shoulders knowing all his talent? The answer is obviously no, because this pressure had to be shared by all of his teammates and the team, although it was able to carve out a place in the playoffs, did not last long.

For his part, Guerrero Jr. saw his offensive production drop in 2022, mainly in terms of power. Fortunately for him and the club’s management, the 23-year-old athlete has particularly improved defensively, even winning his first career Golden Glove.

In 2023, the likeable first base player will stay away from controversy and let his great talent speak for itself in order to contribute to a season full of promise in Toronto following the many changes made during the off-season.

In an interview, the one who will begin his fifth campaign in a Blue Jays uniform mentioned that he wanted to return in the same state of mind as in 2021, when he had almost won the title of most valuable player in the American League.

To do this, he will have to be more selective at the plate and not be too anxious about wanting to do too much. His 2022 season boils down to a ton of unnecessary pressure that he contributed greatly to. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will therefore have to keep a cool head and concentrate on doing his job well, one presence at a time.

Experienced pitchers know how to exploit the weaknesses of a young hitter who wants to do too much, and that’s happened far too often this past season.

There will come a time when the young Guerrero realizes that his talent will come naturally and that 40 homer seasons will be plenty, but until then he needs to stay humble and focused on what he has to do.

The Jays’ management will certainly not stand in the way of their young star player and John Schneider will let the artist express himself freely until everything becomes natural.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is in maturing mode and Blue Jays fans should be spoiled again in 2023 as he is showing encouraging and reassuring signs.

  • Albert Pujols was at the NBA All-Star Game in the Celebrity Game.
  • Nelson Cruz practiced at first base.
  • Robbie Grossman is going to Texas.
  • Corbin Burnes: Is the relationship with the Brewers seriously broken?
  • Alex Manoah is a generous man.
