Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s formidable season in 2021 is among the best in recent years. That said, he was not awarded the MVP title due to Shohei Ohtani’s great season – and with good reason.
But what are its chances in 2022?
In my opinion, his chances are good. After all, he’s less likely to have a big trough like in August, he’s on a roll and he’ll be in even better shape.
Does that take anything away from Ohtani? Not in my opinion. After all, I believe that it will be difficult to surpass such performances in terms of consistency and health.
I don’t want to bet against Ohtani, but I believe voters will “get used to” his performance and that to win he will have to do better without seeing a Guerrero Jr. of this world have an MVP season.
In my opinion, this is what explains the presence of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at the top of the ranking of Bartstool Sportsbook odds.
By the way, the second-ranked player is an Angels player, but it’s not Ohtani. We are talking about Mike Trout, who already has several behind the tie.
Ohtani finds himself afterwards to complete a fairly clear top-3. After all, if you look at the odds of the others who follow, it’s clear that there is a top-3 in the lead.
Bo Bichette ends up in fourth place, which is a bit surprising. After all, it belongs quite high, but to see it so high amazed me. It’s deserved, that said.
George Springer (+4000) is also there a little lower, but no one else at the Blue Jays is there. I expected to see Teoscar Hernandez’s name somewhere.
